About Us

At Pilates, etc., we’re guided by three words:

Movement. Balance. Growth.

Through the disciplines of pilates, yoga and personal fitness, Pilates, etc. provides a supportive and inclusive exercise environment. Exercise is important… not just for the body, but for the mind. By improving strength and mobility, functional movement and coordination, we can also improve and strengthen our mental health.

Using both traditional and contemporary Pilates methods, we provide challenging (but, supportive), tailored and inspiring sessions and classes to help you achieve your goals. Whether your goal is to improve your functional movement, recover from an injury, or achieve specific aesthetic targets.

Our mission is for you to take what you learn in the studio back into your daily life, so you can change the way you move, and even the way you think, allowing you to grow in strength and confidence, both physically and mentally.

Kim has been working in both the dance and fitness industry her entire career. Trained in Royal Academy of Dance classical ballet, her love of dance lead her to New York City where she studied at the Martha Graham Contemporary Dance School.

Pilates became an important addition to her dance training, and becoming a pilates instructor was a natural progression. Kim received her instructor training at the Kane School in New York and under the Stott Pilates method.

Returning to Sydney, Kim completed a bachelor's degree in Exercise and Sports Science at ACU. Since graduating, Kim has continued her professional development studies, gaining certificates in Pregnancy and Exercise, Pilates for the Hyper-Mobile, Integrated Core Anatomy and Posture Analysis.

With over 10 years of teaching experience, Kim’s passion is guiding clients through traditional Pilates exercises, whilst integrating contemporary methods, with a focus on functional movement, strength and mobility.

Being able to work closely with a person's needs, goals and creating a personalised environment, she knows first-hand the multitude of benefits that Pilates can have on one’s life and seeing the transformation in people, both physically and mentally.

Emma Roach

Pilates Instructor

Emma’s lifelong passion for dance and fitness led to a love for Pilates in recent years.

Chronic back pain, and her first pregnancy, allowed Emma to develop a deeper understanding of the positive effects of Pilates on the body and mind, fuelling her passion to become a Pilates Instructor.

Emma has completed her Matwork Certification and Reformer Certification with Polestar Pilates Australia in 2024.

Outside of the studio, Emma enjoys walks in the park with her husband and son, reading books, swimming laps, and baking sweet treats!

Rachel Szabo

Pilates Instructor

Rachel started her Pilates journey in 2001 after years of dance classes leaving her hypermobile, prone to injury and always struggling with upper body strength. After dedicating herself to the method for 18 months, she also found an improvement in her migraines that were triggered by musculoskeletal issues.

Mentored by Kristy Wetherall in Sydney’s South, where she completed her apprenticeship, Rachel completed her formal training in 2002, as part of the first intake of students at Pilates International under the tutelage of Sally Anderson and Kristy.

Rachel has over 3,000 hours of Pilates instruction, including time working with a team of physiotherapists in Maroubra, and has a passion for rebuilding functional strength to those who have suffered injuries, much like her own lived experience.

Rachel suffered through 30 years of endometriosis, with multiple surgeries over the years, leading to major surgery in 2023. She was grateful for her foundations in Pilates during her recovery.

Rachel also held the position of administrator of the Pilates Alliance Australasia (PAA) in its early years.

In her life outside of Pilates, Rachel holds a Bachelor of Business, Diploma of Financial Services (is a total office nerd), and her love of dance has not escaped her, being active in Sydney’s performing arts scene. Rachel has a passion for adults continuing to be creative throughout their lifetime.

Rachel is very excited to bring her experience and love of Pilates to Pilates Etc, and looks forward to being part of your Pilates journey.

Jessica Tattersall

Pilates Instructor

As a dancer, Jessica has always loved all forms of exercise that make her feel not only strong, but elegant, calm and centred!

Throughout lockdown, the ability to go to dance classes ended. So, to find other ways to better her mindset and overall physical health, Jessica picked up pilates classes online.

After lockdown, Jessica started reformer Pilates. She loved the way it made her feel and the positive effects it had, not only on her body, but on her overall mindset and confidence in life.

Jessica is excited to bring her passion for movement to the studio and help others find their passion for moving their body.
